[QUOTE=Article]Ford may be planning to add a new coupe to the Focus lineup when the redesigned model arrives for 2008.

Looking for all the world like a resurrected Escort ZX2, the new Focus two-door promises to add some life to the current models’ familiar lineup.

Prior prototypes for the next Focus were simply rough mules with a Fusion-style nose tacked onto an existing Focus body, but these latest prototypes are now fully complete. Both the new coupe and sedan (also captured here) get some interesting detailing to the side panels, with a bold character line that sweeps up from the front wheel well to the cars’ beltlines, and on to the rear deck. Another chiseled line runs along their lower midsections, adding some more surface development. The character lines on the coupe and sedan are surprisingly similar, and both appear to have similar takes on Ford’s new three-bar grille treatment.

This is the first appearance of full, production-spec prototypes for the next-gen Focus, and any hatchback variants have yet to make an appearance. They’re probably out there somewhere, but we have no firsthand confirmation of them right now. With the surprise addition of a coupe version, Ford is obviously taking a fresh look at how they package and equip the next Focus, so we’ll just have to keep searching to see the true future for Ford’s bread-and-butter entry-level car.

Here’s another: http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/09/27/ … gen-sedan/

[QUOTE=Article]Spy photographers caught prototypes of both coupe and sedan versions of the new Ford Focus in testing this week. The two-door Coupe will be a new addition to the Focus family, reminiscent of the Escort ZX2.

Both the sedan and coupe will get Ford’s new signature three-bar grille. Both vehicles will also get some interesting detailing to the side panels, with a bold character line that sweeps up from the front wheel well to the’ beltline, and on to the rear deck. Another chiseled line runs along their lower midsections, adding some more surface development.

I don’t like it at all. Why compete with yourself going up against the Fussion? Now there will be no Economy car. They will call this one it, but car has gotten bigger, but I’m sure their 4 cyl. engine hasn’t.

Bad move by Ford.

Mirror trust me i have some more info. and am getting more throut the day. just check back later

ok herers the pic I was sent. Sorry about the size.

My contacts can Not either confirm or denie the Drawings. The only thing they were able to say officialy was “How the hell you get that pic!!”
Unofficially the car is being based on the Mazda 3 platform with the Roush Package being comparable to the MazdaSpeed 3 Yes Forced Induction!!! 4 wheel disk brakes, full Roush treatment in handling , performance, apperance, the works.

Ford new CEO is cleaning house. He want’s cars that are going to compete in todays market, both on and off the track.

The interior has been given a hole new look as well. Heres comments from a Ford Employee when 1st viewing the Focus coupe

Coupe drescription from Ford employee
As I pulled into work this morning I noticed a small car covered in black and white zebra camouflage. After punching in, I sauntered over to the small two-door vehicle. As I got closer to the car, I noticed the driver’s side window looked like a ZX3’s. A closer inspection confirmed my suspicions. I said to myself, “This is the rumored Focus coupe!” It looks really bad a$$, even through all the camo.
Some of the car’s features include:

*Cream colored Ford Edge-style gauges.
*A sweet looking two-bar chrome grill.
*Chrome accents on the headlights and taillights.
*Chrome exterior door handles (NOT the current style).
*An awesome new interior with chrome door handles (again, an all-new design), vertical HVAC vents, a cool new gauge cluster, an all-new dash, all new seats, all new seatbelt adjusters, all new interior switchgear, the tach and the passenger’s side airbag panel are emblazoned with "Focus,â€? and all-new door handles.
The ONLY carry-over parts I saw were the windshield wipers and the glass, everything else that I could see was new, even the control stalks and steering wheel

now I am waiting on a few more ppl that I know at Ford to get back to me. On if the Roush will get the apovall to build this. From what I’ve ben lead to believe. It’s a go for early to mid 08 For the release of the Roush package.

They have to approve it! I’m sure Ford has no intention of being left in the dust.

Mike is my man lol… Hopefully we can keep you guys updated on a regular basis now. I for one am down for putting down some nice hard cold cash on one of these babies.

First off, thank you for the info so far. Oh, and this is my first post here but I’ve been around teamzx2 for a while.

Second, with those spy pics, I think they are definitely hiding the shape of the hood. It looks like there’s some padding under that black cover, especially on the hood. it is certainly not uncommon for car companies to even put fake body panels on a car for testing purposes. That doesn’t look like the case here, but still…I don’t think we’ve gotten a good idea of this cars final look.

That being said, I really don’t know why they had to make the car so tall. I did a really quick, really rough photoshop of how I think a lot of people wished the car would look.

Much sleeker looking

1st welcome to zx2ms

2nd that spy photo is of a stock focus coupe. not a roush or S.V.O. EDITION. when I get more info i will post it on this site. And by the way there are ppl watching this site to see reactions, comments, views

Your welcome for the lil interview from the employee . Keep us updated, if I get any info on my end i’ll be sure to relay it again.

True, not a Roush or SVO Edition, but I highly doubt Ford will change body panels and lower the roof line for the Roush edition. Perhaps a body kit, definitely some motor and suspension work, but it will still be the tall focus from the spy shots. I’d like to see it not quiiiiite so tall, but eh…it’s definitely a step in the right direction for Ford.

Hopefully a coupe that competes with others in its class!

f**k the focus, i want the zx2 back!

If the only way we can get the zx2 back is in a focus body style Im in. I’m starting to save up now.

MIKE I LOVE YOU!!!

and who ever eles helped getting this info!!!

better watch out saturday, I might have to hump your leg.

down boy down… bad marky lol

Well, I’m on the TeamZ site… That’s the one I watch over mostly… But, the drawings look great!!! Much better than the Focus coupe! And the more info, the better!! I PROMISE to buy one if it’s a lot like that drawing… That’s pretty bad ass!
