Longest mtx life?

I get roughly 15k miles to the tranny. Its alright mileage for me. lol City driving is a bit lower though. More like 10k miles to the tranny --> MPT.

I guess I must have really gotten lucky to run over 200k on the original tranny. I don’t know how it and the original clutch (still going strong) have lasted this long. Hopefully when I take it in to my mechanic on Thursday he won’t have bad news. I would love to see 300k on it.

Well the verdict is in from a mechanic friend of mine. I had him do a once over on virtually everything and run diagnostics on my Z. Everything checked out except I need new tie rod ends, timing belt, and o-ring for my thermostat. I had him flush all the fluids while he was at it. He said and I quote “It would be a surprise if your transmission doesn’t make it to 300k miles and the clutch still feels almost stock.” I figure the $500 or so I am investing in the Z is worth the hopefully 90k+ more miles I will see.

Sweet! You must really baby that thing to get that much out of it.

See that is the real shocking thing to me. I have driven it extremely hard by most people’s standards since it was delivered to me with 9 miles on it. It’s like the harder I am on it the better it runs.

Well congrats to ya! lol

I bought my first z with 64k and drove it to 150k before I bought another z and swapped the tranny, so the orginal tranny has about 170k on it now. and since 64k I’ve driven it HARD! Burnouts on every takeoff, revving it all the way up, slamming into gears, complete disregard for proper shifting. My Z’s are unbreakable.

gitts next post…

my tranny broke… I dont know why. please help!

lol!

8 years and 155k and it took a dump on me!

I know this is an old post, but my manual '98 has 130k, no troubles, no maintenace done at all…kind of scared to change the mud.

Over 130k on mine now… still working great!

50k on it now. Well original with the car. Well see how much longer. Since if Mfactory does come out with the lsd ill change my gears at the same time as well.

Im pushing 100k with original stock tranny, 2003.

I’m still even running the original clutch

98’ - 131K…original tranny and clutch, driven hard, rev’d high, and no complaints.

same

I beleive these clutches are really good from the factory. I took mine out at 40k with a ton of meat on it. This was from racing and spraying.

gotta be honest, I’m afraid to change the fluid. I dont want to know!

Although I think my clutch is starting to glaze or something. seems I am holding the clutch pedal down longer and longer before she wants to move. May just be me getting older and sloppier though.

145k, stock tranny and clutch as far as I know. Clutch is going and tranny pops out of 3rd sometimes.

I beat the piss out of it though.

double post lolz
