98 ZX2: Mellowness65(many pics)

Great looking car. You can tell the paint must be still good since she shines great with low lighting. Keep up the good work bud.

swapped over to 6 wire maf/EMA0 pcm so as to no longer have to drill holes in every intake i own for iat. it likes to idle high but I can fix that, I added a strut tower bar, now if I had a 99+ ccrm that wasn’t fried I could get my a/c back…

why did you switch to a pcm with a 6 wire maf besides the iat? I thought you were going manual?

so I can swap intakes and not have to drill a hole in every one i own, plus you can’t use NGP0 on a four wire setup;)
right now I’m using EMA0 which is supposedly a good atx pcm, I’m having problems with it idling high, but my a/c isnt working either so I think the ccrm that I put in(which was pretty crusty) may be shot. I’m unsure as to whether that would cause the idle problems or no, previously it idled in the 700-800 range, now it likes 1.1k

picked that up yesterday, not bad for under $100

anyone know what this sensor is? it’s on the focus head, not a zx2 head

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w118/mellowness65/2009-05/P5200004.jpg

also is this crossmember important? I figured no being that it’s held on by 10mm nuts, it doesn’t seem to do much other than provide a place for my exhaust to lay on and rattle, hence I removed it

it’s 4am and i just got in from the garage. 4 new calipers and all disc w/ ss lines. pics tomorrow

How did the install go? Everything kind of rusty?

It went fairly smoothly, the rear lateral link/bolts was rusty, but it got replaced with some newsed stuff:) I got a set of speed bleeders and bled the brakes this morning, they def. paid for themselves today, that and my 10mm brake line wrench were definite needs

Nice nice…glad to see it went smooth. Bleeding yourself is awesome. There are some tips I always have about braking that I learned in school on were to achieve maximum braking for a car at all times. If wondering hit me up on aim.

I guess this is what people talk about having a good friday night?
Anyways I didn’t get started til about 9pm, I cracked the front lines to let the fluid start draining(oem stuff was still in there) into sophisticated collectors

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w118/mellowness65/2009-05/P5300003.jpg

I took the rears loose, leaving the lines connected to avoid big puddles of brake fluid

when i started on the driver’s side, I tried to use a rather pristine Escort GT spindle bolt, and learned that they ARE NOT THE SAME as a ZX2 one, they are shorter

Rear: Swapped rear lateral links for ones in better condition, rear disc swap, R1 axxis pads and rotors, SS lines, new wheel hubs, New caliper hardware, speed bleeders

S/R brake cable attachment, in case anyone says they’re the same as the EGT units, well they’re wrong.

approx. 600g :sunglasses:

I also installed a zxtuner alternator odp and swapped my zxtuner udp for an essy one, the essy went on much easier

Nice short throw shifter looks sexy but why on the computer??? LOL

Tell me how you like the essy it should do the the same performance as rob’s(which I run). I like keeping the diameter of a udp at 100mm.

As always keep up the good work bro.

Dude those brakes look freaking sweet, this thing is really coming along, looking AWESOME!

ty for the compliments, I had a mac udp on there before but I’d gotten shwasted on spring break and the next day I found I was the new owner of the essy

came home from the meet yesterday, now I have a problem. does anyone know what I can put in this hole I found?

Lots and lots of great stuff. When did you start the pull?
