So does anyone know why Ford would drop the Escort line? But they put so much into the Focus Zx3. Seems pretty dumb to me considering the competition.
It was the only small coupe they had.
It was lighter and quicker.
The Zx2 was a better-built vehicle then the other Zx_s. (my opinion)
Lower center of gravity.
Better stock tires.
There is more room to work with in the engine bay.
The hood on the Focus series are prone to chipping due to the angle of the hood itself.
Everyone knows the name Escort and the name doesn’t carry a lot of negative vibes.

Around here, escorts/ZX2s dont have that good of a reputation. People are like, what do you drive, and if you answer ZX2, they are like “isnt that an Escort??” Then it all starts… Escorts are gay, they look like a box(wtf, old models do), THEY ARENT A CIVIC, if you try to “pimp” your escort ur gay, etc.
Yes, people still say that to me before they realize that a ZX2 is not even close to an escort anyways, ford was doing away with the ESCORT emblem to the ZX2 towards the end. I also was very upset with fords decision as you commonly see escorts anywhere.
When someone says to you, “it’s an Escort.”
Ask them if an “SRT-4 is a Neon or a Porche GT3 is a 911.”
I guess my biggest problem is that the Escort line just ended and was dead. Chevy at least made a replacement Caviler —> Cobalt. I know that they aren’t the same vehicle at all, but it picks up where the Caviler left off.
Yeah, they also dropped all contours, every gas saving, economical option Ford dropped, if someone is looking for an economical car and doesn’t like the focus, then ford is out of luck, and I think GM picked up on that.
ZX2 has been manufactured in Mexico and nobody knows why Ford motor company decide to drop out that nice car (also my dad, who works in Ford MC). ZX2 was designed by Mazda, Jaguar and obviusly Ford (U can take look of the XK8 line). That’s why it’s a good car. I hope also that Ford give us back the ZX2.
Just like Mark said its all about sales. The mustang was almost dropped many years ago as well due to changing economy and they didn’t see room for a performance car, but many past mustang owners pleaded with ford not to drop the pony and they listened. Probably a good thing to its the only thing thats lasted all these years asside from the f-series. Ford mighta been in trouble. Wonder what they would’ve replaced it with though??

Actually the Cobolt inherited the cavilers shittyness. Such as the twisted beam rear suspension which is horrible. Why not just do a multi-link? It's a pos nothing different in it besides the SS which is basically a redline which for the money sucks.

Yea, believe it or not the Probe was actually suppose to replace it and right before the probe ended production the ZX2 was actually suppose to replace the probe. Weird how shit rolls down hill, lol.
